La zona principal del bien propuesto configura una extensión de 15.343,70 hectáreas.

Las Diputaciones provinciales de Granada y Almería , la Junta de Andalucía , la Universidad de Granada ,el Centro UNESCO de Andalucía , el Parque Natural de Sierra Nevada , la Mancomunidad de municipios de la Alpujarra, la Asociación Desarrollo Rural , el Patronato de Turismo y la Asociación Abuxarra.
El Parlamento Andaluz ,el Congreso de los Diputados y el Pleno del Senado.
¿Qué elementos sustentan la candidatura de la Alpujarra?
Un sistema de captación de agua de las reservas de nieve en las altas cumbres, un sistema de cultivos en las terrazas denominados "paratas", asentamientos humanos en forma de núcleos escalonados y estructura urbana que se organiza alrededor de espacios públicos y semipúblicos.
¿Qué compromisos tiene que tener o adoptar la zona?
Exige la elaboración de un Plan de Gestión, promoviendo la participación de todas las administraciones e instituciones que se encuentran implicadas de alguna manera en el proceso en la determinación de acciones a realizar y en la financiación para el desarrollo de las mismas. Así mismo se deben establecer mecanismos para impulsar el desarrollo económico de la zona, asegurando un valor social para el propio bien y sus elementos patrimoniales, y compatibilizando su protección y conservación con el desarrollo local.
